Dave’s practice is focused on the banking and financial services industry. He routinely represents financial institutions on issues related to regulatory compliance and the development of consumer financial services and products. This includes work for state and national clients related to mortgage lending, retail installment credit, deposit products, payment cards, electronic delivery systems, regulatory relationships and enforcement actions. Dave has assisted numerous clients with respect to privacy and data security issues, including responses to cyber-security threats and data breaches. He also represents many clients in complex business arrangements, including those involving multi-state retail operations, a wide range of regulators and regulations, and the negotiation of contractual relationships with supporting vendors and business partners.
Dave is Co-Chair of the Firm’s Banking & Financial Institutions Group. With over 30 years of experience, he has developed a national reputation as a leader on issues that are important to the financial services industry. He is often called upon to testify at legislative hearings, speak to Boards on strategic planning concerns, and give educational seminars for industry and professional groups. Dave serves as outside General Counsel for the Connecticut Bankers Association. In this capacity, he is frequently involved in advocacy initiatives in Washington and elsewhere that involve critical concerns for the banking industry. He has been involved in the negotiation and drafting of hundreds of pieces of legislation (and many regulations) affecting the financial services industry. All of these experiences give Dave unique insights on what it takes to achieve a client’s business objectives, while keeping a careful eye on regulatory compliance as a core value.
