Denise A. Pollicella has 25 years of private and corporate practice, focusing on business transactions, mergers and acquisitions, labor and employment, regulatory compliance and corporate law. Having started her career as in-house counsel to a Fortune 500 small company, she founded Cannabis Attorneys of Michigan in 2009 to advance marihuana law in the state.  Ms. Pollicella was involved in the crafting of the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act and has been a strong advocate for patients, caregivers, and emerging “canna-businesses” for nearly a decade. In addition to regularly writing, speaking, and educating on Michigan’s still-developing cannabis laws, she continues to be at the forefront of developing cannabis policy and regulation at both the state and municipal levels. Ms. Pollicella is a regular featured presenter for the Institute for Continuing Legal Education, and she served as an adjunct professor at University of Toledo Law School. She is an inaugural member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Cannabis Law Section. She served on the Small Business Administration’s Marihuana Task Force and the Legal Advisory Board of MiCompassion, a charitable organization focused on medical cannabis education and research.  Ms. Pollicella was a “Legal Corner” contributor to Culture Magazine and served as legal counsel to the Michigan Cannabis Development Association, which she helped found in 2014.  She has been honored by Michigan Lawyers Weekly, the American Law Society and the State Bar of Michigan for her work.  Ms. Pollicella is the Managing Partner of Pollicella, PLLC, with offices in Livingston County, Troy and Grand Rapids.
