Elizabeth N. Mulvey, a founding partner at Crowe & Mulvey, LLP has tried more than 250 cases in courts throughout New England, winning multi-million dollar verdicts in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. She is also a well-respected appellate lawyer, and her appearances before the appellate courts in most of the New England states have resulted in many important decisions in the field of personal injury law. Liz has a special interest in patient safety and electronic health records. She holds a Master’s Degree in Biostatistics from Boston University and a Master’s Degree in Health Informatics from the Medical University of South Carolina.
Liz has been honored by “Super Lawyers” magazine as one of the top ten lawyers in Massachusetts every year since 2005 and was the top vote-getter in the state in 2015. She has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America annually since 1996 and was named as the Massachusetts Medical Malpractice “Lawyer of the Year” for 2010 and the Personal Injury “Lawyer of the Year” in 2012. Lawdragon magazine has repeatedly recognized Liz as one of 500 leading lawyers in America. In 2017, she was named Lawyer of the Year by the Frank J. Murray Inn of Court.
Liz is currently the only Massachusetts member of the Inner Circle of Advocates, an invitation-only organization limited to 100 of the top plaintiff’s lawyers in the United States. She has also been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, an invitation-only organization of the most respected trial lawyers in the United States and Canada. She is currently a trustee of the College’s charitable foundation and has held various other leadership positions with the organization, including a four-year term as a Regent, national chair of the College’s Jury and Outreach committees, and chair of the Massachusetts State Committee. Liz is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, an honorary organization limited to 500 lawyers throughout the world, and served as a member of its Board of Directors for six years. She has also been elected as an Advocate of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
Liz has received a number of appointments from the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. She is currently a member of the Executive Committee for the Massachusetts Guide to Evidence and the Standing Advisory Committee on Rules of Professional Conduct. She also served a four-year term on the Board of Bar Overseers, the disciplinary body that reviews complaints of unethical conduct by lawyers. Since completing that term, she has represented lawyers in disciplinary procedures before the Board.
A frequent lecturer to professional legal and medical groups, Liz has taught trial advocacy in courses run by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Harvard Law School, the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, the American Association for Justice, and the American Bar Association. She is a regular faculty member at the ABA’s Trial Academy, a national training program for young trial lawyers, and was named director of the program in 2014. Liz has contributed several chapters to the MCLE books, “Expert Witnesses” and “Massachusetts Tort Law Manual”. Her work has been published in numerous professional journals, including Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, the Boston Bar Journal, The Practical Litigator, and the Civil Litigation Section Newsletter. She has served as a section council member and co-chair of the Civil Litigation Section of the Massachusetts Bar Association, as well as a member and chair of the section’s Bench-Bar Committee.
Liz graduated from Phillips Academy at Andover, Harvard College, and Suffolk University Law School. She is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for Massachusetts and New Hampshire, the First Circuit Court of Appeals, and state courts in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Maine. She lives in Scituate with her husband, Tom, an Episcopal priest, and her two children, Victoria and Thomas.
