Robert Stone is a premier plaintiff personal injury attorney and trial lawyer respected throughout Alaska for his zealous representation of injured Alaskans. Mr. Stone is a lifetime Alaskan, graduating from Dimond High School in 1986. He attended the University of Oregon on a wrestling scholarship, lettering all 4 years. Mr. Stone then attended Gonzaga University School of Law, where he graduated cum laude in 1994. Mr. Stone held the most prestigious honor in law school, serving as Editor-in-Chief of the Gonzaga Law Review. He earned the American Jurisprudence Award (awarded to the student with the highest grade in the law school class) in every legal research and writing class taken. Mr. Stone also earned the American Jurisprudence Award in Constitutional Law and Conflicts of Law.

Mr. Stone’s exceptional academic achievements earned him the honor of clerking in the United States District Court, District of Alaska, for Chief Judge James K. Singleton, Jr. Over the next 5 years, Mr. Stone honed his skills as an insurance defense attorney. During this time, he witnessed the significant inequities between insurance companies and injured Alaskans. This compelled him to turn his focus from defense work to plaintiff work in 2001. For the past 20+ years, Mr. Stone has focused exclusively on helping injured Alaskans fight for a fair shake against insurance companies. No matter how big or how small the case, he passionately represents each and every client the same. The passion and drive he exudes has helped Mr. Stone successfully build a well-respected plaintiff practice. ”

 

Mr. Stone is well respected within the Alaska Bar Association. He helped create the Young Lawyer Liaison position on the Board of Governors in 1995, serving in that position until 1998. Mr. Stone has served on Disciplinary Panels and Chaired the Lawyer’s Fund for Client Protection Committee for the Alaska Bar Association since 2000. And he has been on the Board of Governors since 2016. Between May of 2019 and October of 2020, Mr. Stone served as President of the Alaska Bar Association.

 

Earlier in his career, Mr. Stone was accepted into the Alaska Academy of Trial Lawyers (2001). He served as President of the Alaska Academy of Trial Lawyers from 2008-10.


Mr. Stone is also admitted to practice law in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Stone is a prolific outdoorsman. He has hunted, fished, camped, and flown in small airplanes since he was a boy. Mr. Stone developed a passion for the outdoors from his parents, and he passes along that same passion to his son and daughter.

 

Mr. Stone took aviation ground school at Dimond High School, and purchased his first airplane shortly after graduating from law school in 1994.

Mr. Stone’s passion for the outdoors lead him to host Alaska Outdoors Television for nearly a decade in the early 2000’s. Alaska Outdoors Television aired nationally on the Outdoor Channel. Prior to the Outdoor Channel, the television show aired statewide on Fox and ABC. 

 

Like many of his clients, Mr. Stone has also suffered serious injuries. In 2013, his airplane was caught in a downdraft and crashed to the ground. Although suffering broken bones from head to toe, and remaining in a hospital bed, wheelchair, or walker for many months, Mr. Stone persevered. He continues to enjoy all that Alaska offers, still hunting, fishing, and flying small airplanes with his friends and family. Mr. Stone understands first-hand how injuries can impact a person’s life. From outdoor activities to family life at home, injuries make life more challenging. He understands how to fight and transfers this understanding to his representation of injured Alaskans.
